To continue to provide the Center's services to aid in the recovery and prevention of sexual assault requires
committed volunteers.
The Sexual Assault Center relies heavily on its volunteers to conduct the meaningful work that the Center provides to the
Northeast Georgia county communities. The amount of involvement that SAC receives from the community is also the source of
one of its greatest strengths. There are many ways to get involved at SAC, so there is something for everyone. Some leadership
opportunities, such as becoming an Advocate or Hotline Operator require specific training a year commitment. Other volunteer
opportunities include prevention education programs, administrative office work, fundraising, special events, etc. Often,
individuals are looking for a way to help out that is unique. Please contact the office because there are often special project
sand other ways to help out. Even helping out for a day, for example, by preparing pins for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
is a huge help. Attending programs and showing your support can have an enormous impact on other participants and survivors
at those events.
SAC began with volunteers and continues to thrive because of our 50+ volunteers today. These dedicated men and women contributed 7,700
hours of heartfelt service to the Center during the time period of July 2003 through June 2004. This is an average
of over 641 hours per month! As volunteers, these compassionate individuals are responsible for keeping
the crisis hotline available 24 hours a day - 7 days a week, as well as educating the community about sexual violence and
advocating prevention. Each hour that a volunteer contributes to the Center is an hour not just for survivors of sexual assault
but also an hour dedicated to the safety and security of the community at large.
Through the leadership opportunities at SAC, you can gain valuable work experience and gain extensive skill development.
Many projects are initiated, planned, organized, and brought to the communities SAC serve from the hard work of our volunteers.
You will know that your efforts are part of a larger initiative to create a world free from sexual violence. Help be the change
that you want to see in the world. If you are interested in volunteering at SAC, please download the VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
below or contact the office at your convenience. Everyone is encouraged to apply! Print out the application and mail
it in to the Center or call to make an appointment with the Volunteer Coordinator.
