Recent Events

June 2004 "An Enchanted Evening" Third Annual Fundraiser

The fundraiser was a great success! 
The event was held at The Chappelle Gallery
and the Le Maison Bleu restaurant.
The event raised over $9,000.

 
 
The Center's First Annual Yard Sale
 
The Center's first annual yard sale held on August 21, 2004 was a huge success.  All monies raised from the yard sale will be used to benefit the Center and its services. 
 
We would like to thank everyone in the community that donated items for our yard sale.  We truly appreciate the community's involvement and voice.

All SAC volunteers participate in a CORE training before being trained in his or her specific areas of interest.  The CORE training is an approximately 10 hour community education training that provides volunteers with important information about sexual assault and the services that the Center provides for survivors and their significant others. 

We describe the role of a Sexual Assault Center volunteer as that of an 'advocate.'  This means that we support, counsel, and aide survivors of sexual assault and those who are close to her or him in identifying and meeting their needs.  Our primary purpose for being there is to help a survivor work through her or his immediate crisis.
